Director, New Business Intake & Risk

A leading professional services organization is seeking a Director of Risk & Professional Responsibility to lead its U.S. risk function and advise senior leadership on complex legal, ethical, and operational matters.

This role will oversee conflicts management, client and matter intake, professional responsibility, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring strong law firm experience and a practical approach to balancing business objectives with effective risk management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead risk management and professional responsibility programs across the organization.
• Oversee conflicts analysis, client acceptance, and matter intake processes.
• Advise leadership on legal, ethical, reputational, and operational risk issues.
• Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
• Partner with stakeholders to identify and mitigate emerging risks.
• Lead and develop a high-performing risk and compliance team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• JD and active U.S. bar admission.
• 8+ years of experience in a law firm risk, professional responsibility, conflicts, ethics, compliance, or general counsel function.
• Strong knowledge of conflicts, client intake, professional responsibility, and risk management
• Experience advising senior leaders and managing complex, high-risk matters.
• Exceptional communication, judgment, and leadership skills.
